In meinem Traum stellen drei berühmte Bildhauer gemeinsam in einer Halle mit quadratischem Grundriss aus. Jeder zeigt eine große Arbeit. Ich nehme mir für alle drei viel Zeit. Beim Gehen denke ich noch weiter über zwei der Werke nach, während ich das dritte schon fast vergessen habe – bis ich ein 1:1-Modell von eben diesem Werk in der Eingangshalle bemerke. Es ist die ausdrückliche Strategie des Künstlers, zuerst ein Modell zu zeigen, und dann erst die eigentliche Arbeit, um das Publikum vorzubereiten, wie er sagt. Ich finde lustig, dass es eher als eine Art Erinnerung funktioniert statt als Einführung.
In my dream, three renowned sculptors are exhibiting together in a square hall, each of them showing one large piece. The works are intriguing, and I am taking time to look at them. When leaving, I think about two of the exhibits, while the third is already out of my mind – until I notice a full-scale model of this one in the entrance hall. It is the artist’s declared strategy to present a model in advance of the actual work, in order to prepare the audience, as he says. I am amused by the fact that it functions more as a reminder than as an introduction.
